Benefits of Children's Yoga

We all know yoga is beneficial to everyone, for many different reasons. But did you know yoga is particularly good for juvenile growth.

“The use of yoga among children may assist their development, increase their well-being, reduce everyday stress, facilitate weight management, and mitigate emotional and behavioral problems, aside from being a supplement to improve focus and attention.”

Confidence

When children practice yoga, they learn and conquer new poses. With each new pose they learn and master, their confidence and self-esteem grows, physically and mentally.

Healthy Bodies

Whilst practicing yoga, children do lots of stretching, strengthening and building their coordination each time. Yoga improves a child’s flexibility and their blood flow too. It helps develop bodily awareness and self esteem too!

Concentration

Holding yoga poses requires focussed minds, even for younger bodies. Focussing on these poses promotes concentration. Through achieving what they focus on, children not only gain another level of concentration, but also increases their attention span too.

Stress management

We all deal with stress, even our children, but stress isn’t all bad. The right levels of stress push us to do our best. Too little stress and we lose our motivation, too much and we become overwhelmed which leads to anxiousness.

Through our yoga sessions, children will learn controlled breathing through different techniques. Controlled breathing can lessen stress and anxiety for any age.

Once they have learnt the different breathing exercises, it's a skill they can use in later life and for years to come. Try it now “Give a really quick example of breathing control and ask how it makes them feel”

Mindfulness

Through yoga, Children align their bodies and minds. This is exactly what mindfulness is, where the body and mind work together. Where we think about we are doing and enjoy being in the moment. Mindfulness helps children to self regulate their emotions and become confident and resilient.

Balance

Yoga is a great way of developing coordination, and it works brilliantly for balance too. Yoga poses help wake up muscles in the body. It helps improve their body coordination and encourages motor development.
